The intimate experience of “wow, this says something to me and even about me” by the audience makes a work of art capable of being understood and loved.

The essence of art is in the individual given that the work of art sprung from the artist's personality may well be perceived differently by each and every one of us according to our unique experiences. The fact that all our different interpretations can be true is extraordinary.

I believe that the general meaning in the plastic arts that can be fitted in with each individual gives the real magic of sculpture and also that is one of the main reasons behind the existence of this beautiful form of art.

Although that is what I have done all my life, I still find it a renewing wonder when thought is being transformed into a work of art through metal forged in fire.
