Understanding the Statuette

When a sculptor expresses his or her message through a sculpture, they can only imagine the many ways of interpretation created by the unique members of the audience. This is absolutely natural given the great differences in our experiences (including those of the artist).

Of course, we can all rely on the well-known symbols, the primary meanings of forms and the universal meaning of movements. The feelings that “Wow, this is meaningful to me!” and “This is really about me!” make a piece of art unique and loveable. I think the possibility of making a unique sense of an objective meaning is why people are attracted to art and why a piece of art can actually live on.
